It is said that rhinoplasty is a procedure of millimeters, and it’s absolutely true.” To ensure great results, Dr. Fernau says that a detailed consultation is critical. Using Mirror® imaging software, he goes over every aspect of the nose to select the treatment course that best suits the patient’s needs. “This is one of the toughest procedures to do, but I’ve done so many in my training and in my current practice that I am confident taking on even challenging revision cases,” he says.

How Do You Encourage Patients To Adopt A Healthy Lifestyle?

I set an example for my patients by staying physically fit. My staff and I stress the importance of daily exercise and a healthy diet. We also discourage smoking and drinking. Furthermore, prior to surgery we offer patients an organic protein shake regimen to optimize healing. 

Why Is A Healthy Lifestyle So Important?

It keeps me operating at peak performance. I do lengthy surgeries such as abdominoplasty, which require strength and stamina.

LIP ENHANCEMENT

Is it better to use fillers or implants to enhance lips?

It’s best to first do an injectable to see if you like the size. It also creates a nice pocket so if you choose to do the permanent implant it goes in easier. I prefer the permanent lip implants personally. If I needed lip enhancement, that’s what I would use. It saves money because you don’t have to keep coming back for filler.

What is the recovery like for lip enhancement with an implant?

In six weeks, the implant feels like your own body. Everyone says that kissing is fine and they don’t even feel like they have an implant.

It’s best to first do an injectable to see if you like the size. It also creates a nice pocket so if you choose to do the permanent implant it goes in easier. I prefer the permanent lip implants personally. If I needed lip enhancement, that’s what I would use. It saves money because you don’t have to keep coming back for filler.

Are lip fillers ever lumpy?

When you put in filler, you’re going to have a small margin of error. There might be a little lump here or there or a slight migration of the filler. That's why I like using implants. When you put in that perfect cylinder of soft silicone lip implant, it appears close to perfect when done correctly.
