Philosophy

Double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi says his biggest critic is himself, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. His philosophy: “If you are a perfectionist and you want to get the best results for your patients, you have to find better ways to achieve their goals. If something isn’t right, do it again until it is perfect. Patients appreciate the extra time you spend.” Patient safety is also of utmost importance to Dr. Asaadi. “Cosmetic surgery is elective; there’s no way I’d ever compromise a patient’s well-being.” Dr. Asaadi completed his post-doctoral training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Southern Illinois University, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery.

About My Practice

How has word-of-mouth buzz served you well?

I see an overwhelming majority of patients who are either friends or family members from patients i've treated in the past. It's very gratifying to know they think so highly of me that they'd refer those who are closest to them.

In terms of facial surgeries, do you also like to combine techniques?

Absolutely. The secret to patient satisfaction and impressive results is the individualization of surgeries. This requires the combination of different modalities. For example, a patient may need a facelift as well as both an upper and lower eyelid lift to globally address the face.

How do you determine the best procedures to pair each patient with?

My evaluation includes discussing patients' goals, assessing their aging symptoms, listening and then offer- ing up a variety of suggestions.

About Me

What do you love most about your job?

I am the happiest when I am at work, whether I’m in the operating room or the office. I love what I do because it’s fun: I talk to people and take care of them.

A Minute With

  1. What sets my practice apart

I always focus on the whole picture. If a patient can’t afford a procedure, I tell them to come back when they can—I don’t want to take shortcuts because the results won’t be what they are looking for

  2. My dream innovation

A solution to the mystery about fat and metabolic changes; discovering how to control hormones secreted from fat cells

  3. My most unique personality traits

Sensitivity to my patients’ needs and 100 percent effort to do my best in everything that I do for them

  4. Career-defining procedure

    Lower blepharoplasty and the
    correction of the festoons (malar
bags); this is one of the most difficult
    plastic surgery procedures because
    it requires skill, expertise, detailed
    knowledge of the periorbital area
and an artistic ability that yields
    amazing results when done right

  5. Three things everyone should do before surgery

Pick the right plastic surgeon, the correct procedure and the safest facility

  6. Three words that best describe me

    Pioneer, perfectionist, caring

  7. The most outrageous medical myth i’ve heard

That you can get more with less

  8. When you know you’re ready for surgery

When you look in the mirror and do not like what you see and noninvasive procedures are no longer a solution

  9. What are you best known for?

    My honesty

  10. What is your most requested procedure?

    Blepharoplasty

FAQs

  1. How can you tell if an eye lift or brow lift is appropriate?
    What our experts say:

I start with a simple test. I put a finger on the lateral part of the eyebrow on the forehead and move it around to see how much mobility it has. If the patient has a lot of mobility and the excess skin of the eyelid goes away, then she needs a browlift. If the forehead doesn’t move and she still has excess skin of the eyelid, then she needs an upper blepharoplasty.

  2. How do you approach mastopexy augmentation procedures?
    What our experts say:

Many of my patients are women in their 30s and 40s who are done having children and are unhappy with the changes to their bodies as a result of pregnancy. A mastopexy augmentation rejuvenates breasts that have become deflated or droopy to help give women back the bodies they once had. It’s more of a reconstructive procedure because of the tiny details and techniques it involves, and the results are incredibly gratifying.
